Latest Report on this Small Mine 4/4/07 PM

This small Company was closing its old mine after being inspected more than 50 times last year. An inspector was at the old Mine yesterday helping the Company prepare their training plan for the yet-to-open site. He received a phone call from the regional office telling him to "Get out of there. There's a 'lynching party' on the way."

The District Manager and the Asst. District Manager returned today to the new site and delivered 15-20 (exact number unknown at this time) citations. All were 104(d) and written as "Reckless Disregard" A "Closure Order" was also delivered to this site which had not even opened yet. There was no exposure of Miners to hazards at anytime!

The old Mine's history is 10+ years without a Lost-time or Reportable injury!
